Design Milestone: Marking East India on the Luxury Design Map

The City of Joy witnessed a landmark moment in luxury design as Design Milestone, East India’s first luxury design show, unfolded from 12th to 15th December 2024. Curated and founded by Sweta & Ajay Arya and Seema & Deep Gupta, the event brought together over 80 distinguished brands and the brightest minds in interiors, architecture, and design to showcase the untapped potential of the region. By blending Eastern India’s cultural heritage with cutting-edge innovation, Design Milestone successfully elevated Kolkata’s standing on India’s luxury design map.

The event featured renowned names like Sarita Handa, Scarlet Splendour, Jaipur Rugs, and Poliform, alongside emerging talent. A glamorous curtain-raiser on 12th December included the Design Milestone Awards, celebrating excellence in the design fraternity, followed by a vibrant bar night. The Design Milestone Conclave enriched the event with engaging panel discussions, workshops, and sessions led by industry leaders. Strategic collaborations with organizations like the Indian Institute of Interior Designers (IIID), Credai Bengal, and The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry further fostered dialogue and innovation.

More than just an exhibition, Design Milestone built a community driven by collaboration, creativity, and celebration of design. “We created a platform to position Kolkata as a key player on India’s design map,” said Ajay Arya, Co-Founder & Curator. Deep Gupta added, “The East holds immense potential, and Design Milestone unlocked opportunities while sparking a dialogue that extends far beyond this event.”

With immersive experiences, art installations, and hands-on workshops, Design Milestone went beyond expectations, delivering a holistic celebration of design excellence.
