The Statesman, organiser of the country's oldest vintage car rally, announced the 55th edition of the prestigious Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally at a press conference held at the Press Club, Kolkata, on January 5, from 4 pm to 5 pm. Adding to the occasion, a vintage car was showcased at the venue as a showstopper attraction, offering the media a glimpse into the heritage and grandeur synonymous with the iconic rally.
Kolkata is all set to relive the golden era of motoring as the 55th edition of the rally takes place on January 11, 2026, at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) Ground. Around 160 vintage and classic cars and 50 two-wheelers are expected to participate, making it a grand celebration of automotive heritage and timeless engineering. The rally will be flagged off at 9:10 am from the RCTC Polo Ground.
The event will feature a spectacular line-up of legendary marques, including Triumph, Studebaker, Chevrolet, Dodge, DeSoto, along with iconic British brands such as Austin, Morris, and MG, reflecting the rich legacy of global motoring history.
Addressing the media, Gobinda Mukherjee, Business Head - East India, The Statesman, said, "No participation fee is charged from the entrants. The objective of the rally is to provide vintage and classic car owners a platform to showcase their prized possessions and keep automotive heritage alive. While car shows are held regularly, The Stotesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally remains the oldest rally of its kind in the country."
He further added that the rally was first organised in Delhi in 1964, while the Kolkata edition began in 1968, firmly establishing its position as a landmark event on India's motoring calendar.
