#PRIYO CHITROSATHI NEWS💐
On 13 December 2025, this morning at New Town, Florence conducted an afforestation drive reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and mental health. Florence is aligned with the United Nations Global Compact and works in close alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on climate action, good health and wellbeing, and sustainable communities.
The drive was held in the presence of Mr. S. M. Ghosh, a renowned environmentalist whose lifelong contribution to environmental conservation has inspired generations. His presence reinforced the importance of sustained ecological action and the urgent need to restore green cover in response to climate change, declining air quality, and rapidly changing urban environments.
A special focus was placed on the vision of Shrestha Ganguly, Head of Florence. Under her leadership, Florence has consistently worked at the intersection of environment and mental health, advocating afforestation as a powerful tool for emotional wellbeing and community healing. Her approach emphasizes that green initiatives must be inclusive, continuous, and deeply connected to human health, making afforestation a year round commitment rather than a seasonal effort.
The drive also highlighted the vital role of trees in improving mental health by reducing stress, enhancing emotional balance, and creating healthier living spaces. In addition to improving air quality, trees help regulate the local climate by absorbing heat, providing essential shade, and moderating temperature extremes, making urban spaces more liveable and resilient.
Florence continues to encourage collective responsibility and conscious action, reinforcing the belief that protecting nature is integral to protecting mental health and building a sustainable and resilient future
