KOLKATA: The Rotary Club of Salt Lake Metropolitan Kolkata, Rotary Club of Central Calcutta and Rotary Club of Green & Putnam Counties, in association with international Rotary clubs and Alliance for Smiles, have launched Project Muskaan, a humanitarian initiative focused on providing cleft lip surgical care and bringing smiles, confidence and hope to children in need.
The initiative was graced by Rtn. Anirudha Roychowdhary, Past Rotary International Director, as the Guest of Honour. Special guests included Rtn. Tapas Bhattacharya, District Governor 2026-27; Rtn. Bratindo Mullick, District Governor Nominee and Rtn. Binod Khaitan, DGSC.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Aruna Tatia, Past President of the Rotary Club of Salt Lake Metropolitan Kolkata, said, “Project Muskaan is not just about surgery; it is about restoring confidence, dignity and hope. Every child deserves the chance to smile without hesitation, and through the collective efforts of Rotary and our medical partners, we hope to make that possible.”
Rtn. PDG Tina Finchlin, Mission Director- Alliance for Smile said "It has always been a pleasure working alongside Aniruddha. Over our many years of collaboration, we have spearheaded numerous impactful initiatives—including setting up the GSE team and leading medical missions—and we are proud to see his continued leadership as Chairperson of Rotary Foundation India."
The project brings together Rotary clubs from India and overseas, along with medical and community partners, to facilitate corrective surgical care for children with cleft conditions. Rtn. Utpal Majumdar, Rtn. Scaria Jose, Rtn. PDG Tina Finchlin and Mr. S.V.S. Seksaria, President, S.V.S. Marwari Hospital, were also among the distinguished guests associated with the initiative.
With its guiding spirit of “Gift a Smile, Save a Life,” Project Muskaan seeks to transform lives by combining healthcare, compassion and Rotary’s commitment to humanitarian service.
